Information on COVID-19 Antibody testing

How to interpret your COVID-19 antibody results

The results of the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) antibody test are for your information only, it will not affect your medical care or work status. Your result will be either:

NEGATIVE (no antibodies found)or POSITIVE (antibodies to the COVID-19 virus are present)

The test cannot tell if you are sick today, only if you have had COVID-19 in the past.

If you are NEGATIVE:

* You have probably not been exposed to COVID-19 yet

*You can still get COVID-19 in the future

A negative result does not mean you are not sick today

If you are POSITIVE:

*You have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last few months

We do NOT know:

*If the antibodies will protect you from getting infected again

*whether you can get infected more than once

*when you were infected

* whether you can spread the infection to someone else

Regardless of the result, please continue to use every precaution that you have been using these last few months:

Personal protective equipment and masks in public

Social distancing

Good hand washing

Refer to the CDC Guidelines here as they are constantly changing.

If you develop any NEW symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or loss of your sense of smell, call your healthcare provider, or return for further evaluation.
